Question

Solve 5x − 7 = 4x + 12. Write a reason for each step.

hintHint:

using the additive property and subtraction property on both sides .solve for x.

The correct answer is: x = 19

    Ans:- x = 19
    Given , 5x - 7 = 4x  + 12
    Adding 7 on both sides by additive property of equality both sides remain equal.
    5x -  7 + 7 = 4x + 12 + 7
    5x = 4x +19
    Subtract 4x from both sides by subtraction property of equality both sides remains equal.
    5x - 4x = 4x + 19 - 4x
    ∴x = 19
