Question

Use Substitution to solve each system of equations :
X = -Y + 3
3X - 2Y = -1

hintHint:

find y by substituting x (in terms of y) in the equation and find x by substituting value of  y in the equations.

The correct answer is: x=1 and y =2 is the solution of the given pair of equations.

    Ans :- x equals 1 semicolon y equals 2
    Explanation :-
    x equals negative y plus 3 space                 — eq 1
    3 x minus 2 y equals negative 1             —- eq 2
    Step 1 :- find y by substituting x equals negative y plus 3 in eq 2.
    3 left parenthesis negative y plus 3 right parenthesis minus 2 y equals negative 1 not stretchy rightwards double arrow negative 3 y plus 9 minus 2 y equals negative 1
    not stretchy rightwards double arrow negative 5 y equals negative 1 minus 9 not stretchy rightwards double arrow 5 y equals 10
    Y = 2
    Step 2 :- substitute value of y and find x
    not stretchy rightwards double arrow x equals negative y plus 3 not stretchy rightwards double arrow x equals negative left parenthesis 2 right parenthesis plus 3
    therefore x equals 1
    x = 1 and y = 2  is the solution of the given pair of equations
