Question

What are the first three numbers in the pattern? −, −, −,  64,  128,  256, …

hintHint:

A pattern is a repeated arrangement of numbers, shapes, colours etc. The Pattern can be related to any type of event or object. If the set of numbers are related to each other in a specific rule, then the rule or manner is called a pattern.

The correct answer is: Hence, the first three numbers in the pattern are 8, 16, 32.

    Let’s first take the sequence 64,  128,  256, …
    We can see that
    128 = 64 × 2
    256 = 128 × 2
    So we can conclude that the value of a number in the sequence is equal to the multiplication of the previous number with 2
    So, the number before 64 will be 32 because when we multiply 32 with 2, we get 64. The number before 32 will be 16 because when we multiply 16 with 2, we get 32. The number before 16 will be 8 because when we multiply 8 with 2, we get 16.
    Final Answer:
    Hence, the first three numbers in the pattern are 8, 16, 32.
