Question

Patricia have finished 2 over 8 of her pizza remaining she has left for her brother. What percent of pizza did Patricia’s brother get

  1. 20%
  2. 30%
  3. 50%
  4. 75%

hintHint:

1. When a certain quantity is divided into 100 equal parts and a certain part of it is to be expressed in terms of the whole quantity, that portion is called as a percent, represented with a % sign.
2. Percentage of pizza left for Patricia's brother = Number of pieces left for him/ Total number of pieces * 100.
3. Total number of pieces in a pizza = Number of pieces had by Patricia + Number of pieces had by her brother.

The correct answer is: 75%

    Given-
Number of pieces had by Patricia = 2
Total number of pieces in the pizza = 8
    To find-
    Percentage of women
    Solution-
    We know that-
Total number of pieces in a pizza = Number of pieces had by Patricia + Number of pieces had by her brother.
    ∴                                         8 = 2 + Number of pieces had by her brother
    ∴                                    8 - 2 = Number of pieces had by her brother
∴                                         6 = Number of pieces had by her brother ............................. (Equation i)
Percentage of pizza left for Patricia's brother = Number of pieces left for him/ Total number of pieces * 100
    ∴ Percentage of pizza left for Patricia's brother = 6 / 8 * 100 ................................. (From Equation i)
∴ Percentage of pizza left for Patricia's brother = 75%
Final Answer- Option 'd' i.e. '75%' is the correct answer to the given question.

We assume that the portion of pizza that Patricia had i.e. 2/8 represents 2 pieces of the total 8 pieces in the pizza.
i.e. we assume tat there were total 8 pieces in the pizza.
