JEE Tips & Tricks

Students require an intense dedication in order to take the JEE Exam. The exam is scheduled in the month of May every year. Alongside being well versed in Academics, Structured planning, Relentless Revision, Strong Fundamentals, Quick Problem-Solving Skills, Conceptual Intelligence, and Strong Analytic Skills are some of the most basic qualities that a student must possess. All these skills combined with Time Management and Rigorous Practice, makes cracking JEE easier.

Listed below are some JEE Tips for Students in Detail:

  • Time Management

Problem Solving is a skill that is much required while attempting to crack JEE. But the Key lies in managing the time while solving the problems. Finishing the exam in the given time is a craft that comes through practice. Students must be conscious of the time they are allotting to answering each question in the exam and reduce it if needed.

  • Conceptual Intelligence

Alongside being Academically strong, students must be able to understand the essence of concepts/ topics and their applications. The reason behind closed book exams is the necessity of ingraining concepts into students’ mind so that when a problem appears, the ingrained knowledge of the concept automatically becomes a part of the process of working towards the solution. In short, conceptual intelligence improves the IQ of the student, thus helping him arrive at the answers faster.

  • Strong Fundamentals

Revisiting Fundamentals from time to time to refresh your memory is a great technique to achieve better scores. The fresher the basic concepts are in the mind of a student, the easier problem solving becomes. Students often tend to leave out basic concepts deeming them irrelevant. This rookie mistake must always be avoided.

  • Rigorous Practice

Practice. Practice. Practice. The more you practice, the higher your confidence levels will be. Exam taking is a process that is not just dependent on the individual’s ability to solve problems as fast as he can, but on how confident he is in his ability to solve them. This can only be achieved by regular practice of solving different kinds of Problems, IIT JEE Mock Test Question Papers from various sources, and Previous year Question Papers.

  • Personal Assessment

Recognizing your weak and strong areas is a must in the practice period. Mindlessly practicing papers, achieving same scores every time, and wondering what went wrong without assessing the area of improvement is a mistake that needs to be avoided at any cost. Weekly assessments are as necessary as consistent practice to gain better score.

  • Macro & Micro Level Planning

Strategizing the preparation down to the minute seems like overdoing it but it extracts results. JEE is one of the toughest exams in the world. Achieving a rank in the exam is an extraordinary feat. But for that, students must prepare a plan which includes not just the topics to prepare on any given day, but the time allotted to the topics in the day. In this way, as the students finish the entire syllabus, they gain a basic notion of the time required to prepare certain tough topics and allot them accordingly in the next revision cycle.

  • Keeping a Positive Attitude

Destressing yourself from time to time and keeping a positive attitude about the exam and your ability to crack it is also essential to getting a better rank. There is no argument in saying that the exam is a tough one to crack but with consistency and practice anyone can crack JEE. Believing this as you prepare and proceed towards writing the exam keeps your mind clear, helps you be confident, and score better.
