Question

Prove in the given figure, side QR of a straight triangle space PQR  is produced to a point S.
If the bisector of  straight angle PQR and straight angle PRS  meet at the point T, then prove
straight angle QTR equals 1 half straight angle QPR

hintHint:

Find ∠TQR and ∠TRS in terms of  ∠PQR and ∠PRS respectively .
Now find the relation between ∠QPR ,∠PQR and ∠PRS also relation between ∠QTR ,∠TQR and ∠TRS. Now equate both the relations.

The correct answer is: Hence proved


    ∠TQR =1 half  ∠PQR (TQ is the angular bisector )
    ∠TRS = 1 half ∠PRS (TR is the angular bisector )
    We  know that in a triangle, the exterior angle is always equal to the sum of the interior opposite angles.
    In straight capital delta PQR ; ∠QPR +∠PQR = ∠PRS ∠QPR  = ∠PRS -∠PQR  — Eq1
    In straight capital delta TQR ;  ∠QTR +∠TQR = ∠TRS — Eq2

    Substitute ∠TQR =1 half  ∠PQR and  ∠TRS = 1 half  ∠ PRS in Eq2

    We get ∠QTR +1 half  ∠PQR = 1 half ∠PRS

     ∠QTR  =1 half ∠PRS  - 1 half  ∠ PQR

     ∠QTR = 1 half (∠PRS-∠PQR)
    Substitute Eq1 in the above equation

    We get ∠QTR = 1 half ∠QPR
    Hence proved
