What is a linear function in the form y = mx + b for the line passing through (4.5 , - 4.25) with y – intercept 2.5?
Hint:
Use slope – intercept formula
The correct answer is: y = -1.5x + 2.5
It is given that y – intercept is 2.5 i.e. the point is
(0 , 2.5) and second point is (4.5 , - 4.25)
Slope of the line, m =

Using slope – intercept form, equation of the line is
Y = mx + c , where c is the intercept and m is slope
Y = - 1.5x + 2.5
