Area of the circle in which a chord of length square root of 2makes an angle p/2 at the centre is

The correct answer is: straight pi


    Let AB be the chord of length square root of 2, O be the centre of the circle and let OC be the perpendicular from O on AB. Then AC = BC = square root of 2 divided by 2 equals 1 divided by square root of 2

    In DOBC, OB = BC cosec 45° = left parenthesis 1 divided by square root of 2 right parenthesis cross times square root of 2 equals 1
    \ Area of the circle = p (OB)2 = p.
    Hence (c) is the correct answer.
