In Potsdam, New York, there is a private national research institution called Clarkson University that was founded in 1898. Today, it is considered as one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. The university includes three campuses, with Potsdam serving as the major campus.

Steps to Apply for Admission

Each candidate must include the following in their application, as required by the School Clarkson university admissions Committee:

  • Application

All applications must be submitted through the Clarkson School portal.

  • Essay

The personal statement should be 250 and 300 words long and provide the admissions committee a glimpse into your character so we can learn more about you via your writing. You are allowed to talk about a passion, memorable event, or accomplishment that holds significance for you.

  • Guidance Counselor Recommendation

You should discuss your interest in The Clarkson School with your counselling or college advisor as an application. A recommendation should be provided, together with an official record of your past secondary school education, by your principal, head of school, or counsellor.

  • Transcript

Your secondary school transcript must be obtained directly from your school’s administration. Your last year’s grades will always determine whether or not you are admitted to The Clarkson School; therefore you must submit an end-of-year transcript whenever it becomes available.

  • Test Scores

Test-Optional: SAT/ACT/PSAT Scores; if provided, the results will be taken into account for determining admission. Test results that you self-report will also be accepted. If your results are not shown on your transcript but you would still like to submit them, please make arrangements to have them sent to us.   • Recommendations

You should make arrangements to have at least two (2) additional recommendations—from professors or other individuals who can attest to your personal and academic preparation for an early college program—sent in addition to the reference from the guidance counsellor. Also invited to submit a letter of support are parents and legal guardians. These optional private recommendations provide a special, intimate view of the candidate.

  • Deadline

Once submitted, applications are evaluated continuously, and decision letters are sent within 5-7 working days. Please be aware that all applicants will be assessed immediately for the Clarkson School’s Honors Program as long as spots are still available.

All prospective students at the Clarkson School are invited to come to university for an interview with teaching staff. It is highly advised that a candidate bring a guardian or a parent to the interview.
