However, before discussing them, we would like to have you glance over the college overview.

Overview of the Brigham Young University

Brigham Young University—Provo was founded as a private college in 1875. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 33,365 students (fall 2020) and is located in the city on 557 acres. The academic year is divided into semesters. Brigham Young University, Provo, has ranked #79 among National Universities as per the Best Colleges 2022 edition. Tuition and expenses amount to $6,120 in total.

Brigham Young University students receive a religious and moral education because the school is funded and developed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are approximately 300 student organizations on campus. The BYU Cougars compete primarily in the West Coast Conference as a Division I team. NFL draught picks play a significant role in the football team’s performance, standing at over 140.

All BYU students are welcome to engage in intramural sports, and approximately 40% of them participate. Although it is not required, the college highly encourages first-year students to live on campus in Provo, Utah. All students must follow a strict code of conduct, which prohibits activities like camping with persons of the opposite sex and growing facial hair (beard) unless authorized by a doctor or medical expert.

It is also illegal to be in an adulterous or homosexual relationship. The school is close to many hiking and bike trails as it is positioned at the Wasatch Mountains’ base. Furthermore, the Missionary Training Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is located in Provo, allowing prospective members to join and grow before embarking on an 18-month service abroad.

BYU is well-known for its capacity to teach foreign languages, and it regularly provides classes in 62 different languages. Sixty-five percent of college students are bilingual or multilingual, according to estimates. Outside of Provo, both Boise State University and Brigham Young University have campuses. BYU graduates include former presidential contender Mitt Romney, novelist Stephenie Meyer, and actors Jon Heder and Aaron Eckhart from “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Batman: The Dark Knight.”

What is the BYU Acceptance Rate?

The institution has a 69 percent acceptance rate, making it the second-lowest in Utah. BYU is a bit challenging to get in, but you can make it by fulfilling the admission requirements. Out of 11,292 applicants, 7,820 students were accepted last year. Academically, it has exceptionally high admission test scores, frequently admitting students who rank in the top 21% of their class.

BYU usually considers students with an “A-” grade point average in high school. Eighty-one percent of those accepted opted to enroll. It signifies that admission to the school is highly sought after, and many students may consider it their first choice. The majority of new first-year students graduated in the top quarter of their class in high school.

What do the BYU Admission Requirements be Like?

Brigham Young University’s admission process consists of several steps, the first of which is screening. Candidates are chosen based on their GPA, SAT, and ACT scores, obtained in the appropriate tests. After being successfully shortlisted for the interview, the students are summoned for it.

Students are mostly questioned about their hobbies, interests, and, most importantly, why they want to pursue this degree. According to recent data, students who are shortlisted for an interview are usually chosen for it. To understand BYU admission requirements in more detail, let us discuss BYU Score criteria.

What do BYU scores mean?

BYU scores comprise GPA, SAT, and ACT Scores. Let us discuss all the BYU scores here:

What are BYU GPA Scores?

Brigham Young University-Provo (BYU) has a 3.86 average GPA. It is a highly selective institution due to its average GPA. Schools in this GPA range are frequently attempting to increase selectivity. We can’t read the minds of BYU application readers, but they’re probably hoping to raise the average GPA from 3.86 to 4.00 this year; aim for a 4.00 or more GPA to be safe.

What are BYU SAT Scores?

Typically, BYU applicants rank in the top 24 percent of SAT test-takers. On a 1600 Scale, the school frequently accepts SAT composite scores as low as 1200, indicating that admission is a long shot. We believe that some students can be welcomed with SAT scores of 1090. The average SAT score for first-year students admitted to the university is 1310 out of 1600. The school has the highest SAT composite average in the state. Twenty-eight percent of applicants submit SAT scores to the school.

For the 25th and 75th categories, the following figures are estimated:

  • Students must have SAT reading and writing scores of 600 and 710, respectively.
  • Students must get a Math SAT score of at least 590 and a Reading SAT score of 710.
  • The Composite SAT scores are 1190 and 1420.
