Brigham Young University students receive a religious and moral education because the school is funded and developed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are approximately 300 student organizations on campus. The BYU Cougars compete primarily in the West Coast Conference as a Division I team. NFL draught picks play a significant role in the football team’s performance, standing at over 140.

All BYU students are welcome to engage in intramural sports, and approximately 40% of them participate. Although it is not required, the college highly encourages first-year students to live on campus in Provo, Utah. All students must follow a strict code of conduct, which prohibits activities like camping with persons of the opposite sex and growing facial hair (beard) unless authorized by a doctor or medical expert.

It is also illegal to be in an adulterous or homosexual relationship. The school is close to many hiking and bike trails as it is positioned at the Wasatch Mountains’ base. Furthermore, the Missionary Training Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is located in Provo, allowing prospective members to join and grow before embarking on an 18-month service abroad.

Sixty-five percent of college students are bilingual or multilingual, according to estimates. Outside of Provo, both Boise State University and Brigham Young University have campuses.
