Notice:

A written or printed announcement is referred to as a notice. It is written to inform a large group of people about something that has occurred or is about to occur.

A notice writing could be about an upcoming event, a competition, a lost and found notice, or simply a piece of information that needs to be delivered to a specific audience. In general, it is written in a formal tone.

Notices are brief and to the point. The language used is straightforward and formal, rather than superfluous. They are displayed on bulletin boards in schools and public places.

Format of a notice:

It is important to get the format right while writing a notice. The top centre of the notice should contain the name of the institution that is issuing the notice. Right below this, the word NOTICE should be written.

This is to be followed by the date of issuing the notice.

Next, a title is added.

After all these details move to the main content/body of the notice. This is the portion where one elaborates on the information to be circulated. It should be very short, but should cover all the main information. If the notice is about an upcoming event the body should contain information like the date, time, duration, place, and the venue where the event is to take place.

After making the announcement, the notice ends with the signature of the authority concerned. Additional points involve the contact details.

Given below is a sample of a notice:
