Plural Nouns 

Noun: 

  • A noun is a naming word that specifies the name of any person, place, thing, or idea. 
  • Nouns can sometimes be singular, and sometimes they can be plural. 

PLURAL NOUN: 

  • In general, we form plural nouns by adding the letter “S” to the end of the noun. 
    • E.g.:
      • Cat- Cats, 
      • Dog-Dogs, 
      • Egg- Eggs, 
      • Pet- Pets 
  • We add the letters “ES” to the nouns, which ends in ‘s’, ‘ch’, ‘sh’, ‘x’, ‘z’.  
    • E.g.:
      • Beach- Beaches 
      • Wish- Wishes 
      • Waltz- Waltzes 
      • Fox- Foxes 
  • When a noun ends with “F”, or “FE”, we remove the F or FE part and add “VES” to the end. 
    • E.g.:
      • Knife- Knives 
      • Leaf- Leaves 
      • Wife- Wives 
  • When a noun ends with a vowel and “Y” at the end, we add “S” in the word while making it plural. 
    • E.g.:
      • Birthday- Birthdays 
      • Valley- Valleys 
      • Chimney- Chimneys 
      • Essay- Essays
