Word wizard_er, ir, ur words

When the vowels e,i,u are followed by an “r,” then they all make the same sound.

E.g.-Girl, Answer

Here, er, ir, ur makes the same sound /er/

Thus, we can say that, when the letter “r” follows a vowel, it changes the vowel sound.

Let’s do an activity

Circle, where you find /er/ sound

       1. Under 2. Bird

       3. First 4. Burp

   5. Germ      6. Fern

7. Turn

In all cases, the vowel is followed by an “r.” Here, the letter “r” acts as controlling authority, and it changes the vowel sound.

So, we have learned different examples of R-controlled vowels, now let us learn its rules.

When a vowel is followed by “r,” the vowel changes its sound by the influence of the letter. Here, the letter “r” controls the vowel-like boss, and it is called bossy R.

E.g.-Perfect, Squirm, Surprise

Here, er, ir, ur have the same pronunciation /er/.

Let us learn some ir, ur, and er words.

1. Teacher 2. Birthday

 3. Nurse 4. Anger

5. Thursday
