Where ‘a’ is a common difference.

Quadratic sequence: Now that you know the arithmetic sequence, you can understand the quadratic sequence. In an arithmetic sequence, the difference between the preceding elements is the same. In quadratic sequence, the second difference is the same.

An example of a quadratic sequence is

2, 3, 5, 8, 12

The first difference between the number and its preceding numbers is 1, 2, 3, and 4. 

But the second difference between elements and their preceding element is 1.

Geometric sequence: A sequence in which the ratio between the element and the preceding element continues to be constant is a geometric sequence.

An example of a geometric sequence is 1, 4,16,64,……

Observe the ratios 4/1, 16/4=4/1, 64/16=4/1.

Harmonic sequence: A harmonic sequence represents the reciprocal of the terms present in an arithmetic sequence. 

For example, 1, 2, 3, 4,…. is an arithmetic sequence.

Reciprocal of the terms gives you 1, ½, ⅓, ¼, …. is a harmonic sequence.

Triangular number sequence: This type of sequence is obtained from elements that form an equilateral triangle.

Consider this sequence as an example, 1,3,6,10,….

Observe the pattern 1, 1+2, 1+2+3, 1+2+3+4,…

Square number sequence: This type of sequence is obtained by a pattern forming squares.

For example, 1,2,4,9,16,….

Which is the same as the squares of the numbers 1,2,3, and so on.

Cube number sequence: This sequence is similar to the square sequence, except that the elements are cubes of numbers. 

Fibonacci sequence: The elements of this sequence are the sum of the previous two elements.

For example, 1,1,2,3,5,…. is a Fibonacci sequence.
